USING BALUNS TO COMBINE BOTH AMPLIFIERS

INTO A SINGLE AMPLIFIER

The ADL5534 is ideal for use in a balanced amplifier confi-

guration. To accomplish this, flux-coupled RF transformers

with a 2:1 impedance ratio can be used for wide band

operation. Alternatively, a balun can be constructed using

lumped element components for operation over a narrow

frequency range. Figure 17 shows the necessary connections

for configuring the ADL5534 for operation as a balanced

amplifier. Figure 18 shows the performance of the ADL5534

operating in a balanced configuration.
