GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The PAC1934 is a four-channel, bidirectional, high-side
current-sensing
device
with
precision
voltage
measurement capabilities, DSP for power calculation
and a power accumulator. PAC1932 and PAC1933 are
two and three channel versions of the PAC1934. These
devices measure the voltage developed across an
external sense resistor (VSENSE) to represent the
high-side current of a battery or voltage regulator. The
PAC1932/3/4 also measures the SENSE+ pin voltages
(VBUS). Both VBUS and VSENSE are converted to digital
results by a 16-bit ADC, and the digital results are
multiplied to give VPOWER. The VPOWER results are
accumulated
on-chip,
which
enables
energy
measurement over the accumulation period.
The PAC1932/3/4 has an I2C/SMBus interface for
digital control and reading results. It also has digital
supply reference VDD I/O that is to be connected to the
same supply as the digital master for the I2C/SMBUS,
enabling digital I/O voltages as low as 1.62V.
A system diagram is shown in Figure 4-1.
