Connectivity

The ST Micro Connect box provides three possible connections to the host PC: parallel port,

USB and Ethernet. The type of connection that you use will be determined, in part, by the

configuration you choose for your EMU3 emulator.

In the in-circuit communication configuration, you can use either the USB or the parallel

port. Ethernet is not supported in this configuration. In the emulation configuration you can

use the Ethernet, USB or parallel port.

When you start your emulation, in-circuit debugging or in-circuit programming sessions, you

will have to set the connection type in STVD7 or STVP7. In STVD7, set the port in the

Debug Instrument Settings window (Debug Instrument>Target Settings). When

programming your ST7 with STVP7, set the port in the Configuration window

(Configure>Configure ST7 Visual Programmer). For more information refer to your

software's online help.

Parallel port

Your EMU3 emulator supports the parallel port connection modes listed in Table 1, when

using either the emulation or the in-circuit communication configurations.
