Figure 1 shows a typical application schematics for proximity sensing with POUT in open-

drain mode with a pull-up resistor.

In these schematics:

●

Rpull-up is the pull-up resistor,

●

VDD_DEVICE is the end-application power supply,

●

VDD_STM8T143 is the capacitive sensor power supply.

Electrical conditions and application example

The value of Rpull-up must meet the following condition:

where IIO is the output current sunk by output pin. Refer to the I/O current characteristics

table in STM8T143 datasheet for the value of the current sunk by the output pin.

When the above condition is met, the maximum output low level voltage (VOLmax_STM8T143)

is compliant with the value specified in I/O pin characteristics section of the STM8T143

datasheet.
