Change Title: Product process change.

Products Affected: See Appendix A

Description of the Change: : In an effort to make our product line more compatible with

regulatory and environmental guidelines, we are changing the volume manufacturing process for

the above products to make them RoHS compliant with Aavid Thermalloy specification RoHS

9000. (Available at http://www.aavidthermalloy.com/RoHS.shtml ).

The former versions of these products were plated with a solderable tin-lead finish.

The finish will be changed to 100% matte tin per ASTM B545 with a nickel under plate barrier of

1.9 to 3.8 um.

The base material, dimensions and thermal performance of these products remain unchanged.

Product built using the new process is identified with a “G” suffix at the end of the part number as

shown in Appendix A.

Scheduling of Change:

Sample Date: Samples are available now for customer testing

Volume Production: Volume production availability will be October 1 2005

New orders should be placed for the “G” suffix product. Please adjust your current orders

so that they can be filled accordingly depending upon stock and availability.

EOL of unchanged Product: Once the manufacturing process has been changed to the

RoHS compliant process, it may still be possible to manufacture products with Sn/Pb

process; however product manufactured with the Pb process require a pricing adjustment

due to cost increases associated with material and lower volume manufacture.

Customer Impact: All matte tin products are backward compatible with Sn/Pb solder processes.
