Start-up configuration
5.1
User-defined parameters
The STUSB4500L has a set of user-defined parameters that can be customized by NVM re-programming through
the I2C interface. This feature allows the customer to change the preset configuration of the USB Type-C interface
and to define a new configuration to meet specific application requirements addressing various use cases, or
specific implementations.
The NVM re-programming overrides the initial default setting to define a new default setting that is used at power-
up or after a reset. The default setting is copied at power-up, or after a reset, from the embedded NVM into I2C
registers. The values copied in the I2C registers are used by the STUSB4500L during the system operation.
The NVM re-programming is possible with a customer password. The I2C registers must be re-initialized after
each NVM re-programming to make effective the new parameters setting either through power-off and power-up
sequence, or through reset.

The table below lists the user-defined parameters and indicates the default start-up configuration of the
STUSB4500L.
