Functional description

The STUSB1702 is a USB Type-C controller IC. It is designed to interface with the Type-C receptacle on host

side. It is used to establish and manage the source-to-sink connection between two USB Type-C host and device

ports.

The STUSB1702 major role is to:

1.

Detect the connection between two USB Type-C ports (attach detection)

2.

Establish a valid source-to-sink connection

3.

Determine the attached device mode

4.

Resolve cable orientation and twist connections to establish USB data routing (MUX control)

5.

Configure and monitor VBUS power path

6.

Manage VBUS power capability: USB default, Type-C medium or Type-C high current mode

7.

Configure VCONN when required

8.

Support USB PD negotiation

The STUSB1702 also provides:

Low power standby mode

I²C interface and interrupt

•

Start-up configuration customization: static through NVM and/or dynamic through I²C

High voltage protection

Accessory mode detection
