141 / 143 page  M24LR16E-R Application family identifier (AFI) (informative) Doc ID 018932 Rev 8 141/143 Appendix C Application family identifier (AFI) (informative) The AFI (application family identifier) represents the type of application targeted by the VCD and is used to extract from all the M24LR16E-Rs present only the M24LR16E-R meeting the required application criteria. It is programmed by the M24LR16E-R issuer (the purchaser of the M24LR16E-R). Once locked, it cannot be modified. The most significant nibble of the AFI is used to code one specific or all application families, as defined in Table 132. The least significant nibble of the AFI is used to code one specific or all application subfamilies. Subfamily codes different from 0 are proprietary. Table 132. AFI coding(1) 1.
