8 / 64 page  USB82640 DS60001312A-page 8 2010-2015 Microchip Technology Inc. 4.0 LOGICAL STRUCTURE AND BLOCK DIAGRAM The USB82640 consists of two USB devices: • a hub and • a card reader The hub is a three-port HS USB hub, with port1 internally connected to the card reader by default, and ports 2 and 3 can be made user-accessible, or disabled by hub configuration. The chip reports itself as a USB Compound device. Having two different devices compounded, the chip has two different sets of descriptors as appropriate per the corre- sponding device classes (Refer to the Universal Serial Bus Mass Storage Class Specification Overview [6]). Some of the device descriptors are mentioned in the Appendix (Selected Device Descriptors) on page 62. The logical structure of the USB82640 is shown in Figure 4-1. More details about the USB82640 are presented in the block diagram in Figure 4-2 USB82640 Block Diagram on page 9.
