The relation- ship of output power, boundary-mode frequency, IPK, and primary inductance can be used as a guide throughout the design process. RVTRANS & RDCM Selection RVTRANS sets the common-mode reference voltage for both the DCM comparator and VOUT comparator. Select RVTRANS from the design guide in Figure 10. The RVTRANS pin is connected to an internal 40μA current source. Pin current increases as the pin voltage is taken higher than the internal 60V zener clamp. Choose 25k for VTRANS voltage below 12V. Choose 40k for VTRANS voltage between 12V and 60V. For VTRANS voltage greater than 60V, choose RVTRANS to limit RVTRANS pin voltage to less than 60V (i.e. 55V). RVTRANS = VTRANS –55V 40 μA RDCM needs to be properly designed in relation to RVTRANS. Improper selection of RDCM can lead to undesired switch- ing operation at low output voltages.
