8.2.4 5-V Regulator With Error Flags for Low Battery and Out of Regulation

Figure 38 is the example circuit for 5-V regulator with error flags for low battery and out of regulation, it has the

following features:

•

Connect to logic or microprocessor control inputs.

•

LOW BATT flag warns the user that the battery has discharged down to about 5.8 V, giving the user time to

recharge the battery or power down some hardware with high power requirements. The output is still in

regulation at this time.

•

OUT OF REGULATION flag indicates when the battery is almost completely discharged, and can be used to

initiate a power-down sequence.
