Special Function Registers (SFRs) 4.2 Notes on SFRs 4.2.1 Register Settings Table 4.19 lists Registers with Write-Only Bits and registers whose function differs between reading and writing. Set these registers with immediate values. Do not use read-modify-write instructions. When establishing the next value by altering the existing value, write the existing value to the RAM as well as to the register. Transfer the next value to the register after making changes in the RAM. Read-modify-write instructions can be used when writing to the no register bits.
