AnylocationwithintheProgramMemorycanbedefinedasalook-uptablewhereprogrammerscan

storefixeddata.Tousethelook-uptable,thetablepointermustfirstbesetupbyplacingtheaddress

ofthelookupdatatoberetrievedinthetablepointerregisters,TBLPandTBHP.Theseregisters

definethetotaladdressofthelook-uptable.

Aftersettingupthetablepointer,thetabledatacanberetrievedfromtheProgramMemoryusing

thecorrespondingtablereadinstructionsuchas"TABRD[m]"or"TABRDL[m]"respectivelywhen

thememory[m]islocatedinsector0.Ifthememory[m]islocatedinothersectors,thedatacanbe

retrievedfromtheprogrammemoryusingthecorrespondingextendedtablereadinstructionsuchas

"LTABRD[m]"or"LTABRDL[m]"respectively.Whentheinstructionisexecuted,thelowerorder

tablebytefromtheProgramMemorywillbetransferredtotheuserdefinedDataMemoryregister[m]

asspecifiedintheinstruction.ThehigherordertabledatabytefromtheProgramMemorywillbe

transferredtotheTBLHspecialregister.

Thefollowingexampleshowshowthetablepointerandtabledataisdefinedandretrievedfromthe

microcontroller.ThisexampleusesrawtabledatalocatedintheProgramMemorywhichisstored

thereusingtheORGstatement.ThevalueatthisORGstatementis"0700H"whichreferstothe

startaddressofthelastpagewithinthe2KProgramMemoryoftheHT66F4530device.Thetable

pointerlowbyteregisterissetupheretohaveaninitialvalueof"06H".Thiswillensurethatthefirst

datareadfromthedatatablewillbeattheProgramMemoryaddress"0706H"or6locationsafter

thestartofthelastpage.Notethatthevalueforthetablepointerisreferencedtothefirstaddress

specifiedbyTBLPandTBHPifthe"TABRD[m]"or"LTABRD[m]"instructionisbeingused.The

highbyteofthetabledatawhichinthiscaseisequaltozerowillbetransferredtotheTBLHregister

automaticallywhenthe"TABRD[m]"or"LTABRD[m]"instructionisexecuted.

BecausetheTBLHregisterisaread/writeregisterandcanberestored,careshouldbetaken

toensureitsprotectionifboththemainroutineandInterruptServiceRoutineusetableread

instructions.Ifusingthetablereadinstructions,theInterruptServiceRoutinesmaychangethe

valueoftheTBLHandsubsequentlycauseerrorsifusedagainbythemainroutine.Asaruleitis

recommendedthatsimultaneoususeofthetablereadinstructionsshouldbeavoided.However,in

situationswheresimultaneoususecannotbeavoided,theinterruptsshouldbedisabledpriortothe

executionofanymainroutinetable-readinstructions.Notethatalltablerelatedinstructionsrequire

twoinstructioncyclestocompletetheiroperation.
