The input currents of the photodiodes result in pulse density modulated digital signals, further filtered by counters up to 24- bits. The counters will be set by definition of TINT. A 64 ms conversion time is required as minimum for a 16-bit I²C output (Figure 27). In the end, each channel’s counter status represents a digital equivalent of the average input light irradiance regarding the channel’s sensor area within the conversion time interval.
