Ultrathin, Low VIN 10A Step-Down

DC/DC µModule Regulator

DESCRIPTION

The LTM®4659 is a complete 10A step-down switch-ing

mode μModule® regulator in a tiny 4mm × 4mm ×

1.43mm LGA package. The package includes the switch-

ing controller, power MOSFETs, inductor and all support

components. Operating over an input voltage range of

2.25V to 5.5V, the LTM4659 supports an output volt-

age range of 0.5V to VIN set by external resistors. Its

high-efficiency design delivers 10A continuous output cur-

rent. Only ceramic input and output capacitors are needed.

The LTM4659 employs a Silent Switcher 2 architecture

with internal hot loop bypass capacitors to achieve both

low EMI and high efficiency at high switching frequencies.

TheLTM4659alsosupportsfrequencysynchronization,mul-

tiphase operation, selectable pulse-skipping mode (PSM)

operation, and output voltage tracking for supply rail

sequencing. Its high switching frequency and a current

mode architecture enables a very fast transient response

to line and load changes without sacrificing stability.

Fault protection features include overvoltage, overcur-

rent, and overtemperature protection. The LTM4659 is

lead(Pb)-Free and RoHS-compliant.
