Analog to Digital Converter

Theneedtointerfacetorealworldanalogsignalsisacommonrequirementformanyelectronic

systems.However,toproperlyprocessthesesignalsbyamicrocontroller,theymustfirstbe

convertedintodigitalsignalsbyA/Dconverters.ByintegratingtheA/Dconversionelectronic

circuitryintothemicrocontroller,theneedforexternalcomponentsisreducedsignificantlywiththe

correspondingfollow-onbenefitsoflowercostsandreducedcomponentspacerequirements.

A/D Converter Overview

Thesedevicescontainamulti-channelanalogtodigitalconverterwhichcandirectlyinterfaceto

externalanalogsignals,suchasthatfromsensorsorothercontrolsignalsandconvertthesesignals

directlyintoa12-bitdigitalvalue.Italsocanconverttheinternalsignals,thehighperformance

bandgapreferencevoltageVBGREF,theSDoperationalamplifier0outputsignalOPA0Oandthe

SDoperationalamplifier1outputsignalOPA1O,intoa12-bitdigitalvalue.Theexternalor

internalanalogsignaltobeconvertedisdeterminedbytheSAINS2~SAINS0bitstogetherwiththe
