A/D Converter Reference Voltage
ThereferencevoltagesupplytotheA/Dconvertercanbesuppliedfromthepositivepowersupply
pin,AVDD,orfromanexternalreferencesourcesuppliedonpinVREF.Thedesiredselection
ismadeusingtheSAVRS1andSAVRS0bits.WhentheSAVRSbitfieldissetto"01",theA/D
converterreferencevoltagewillcomefromtheAVDDpin.Otherwise,iftheSAVRSbitfieldisset
toanyothervalueexcept"01",theA/DconverterreferencevoltagewillcomefromtheVREFpin.
AstheVREFpinispin-sharedwithotherfunctions,whentheVREFpinisselectedasthereference
voltagesupplypin,theVREFpincontrolbitVREFSshouldfirstbesethightoenabletheVREF
pinfunctionthentheotherpinfunctionswillbedisabledautomatically.However,iftheinternalA/D
converterpowerAVDDisselectedasthereferencevoltage,theVREFpinmustnotbeconfigured
asthereferencevoltageinputfunctiontoavoidtheinternalconnectionbetweentheVREFpintoA/
DconverterpowerAVDD.Theanaloginputvaluesmustnotbeallowedtoexceedthevalueofthe
selectedA/Dreferencevoltage.
A/D Converter Input Signals
AlltheexternalA/Danalogchannelinputpinsarepin-sharedwiththeI/Opinsaswellasother
functions.ThecorrespondingcontrolbitsforeachA/DexternalinputpininthePxS0andPxS1
registerdeterminewhethertheinputpinsaresetupasA/Dconverteranaloginputsorwhether
theyhaveotherfunctions.IfthepinissetuptobeasanA/Danalogchannelinput,theoriginalpin
functionswillbedisabled.Inthisway,pinscanbechangedunderprogramcontroltochangetheir
functionbetweenA/Dinputsandotherfunctions.Allpullhighresistors,whicharesetupthrough
registerprogramming,willbeautomaticallydisconnectedifthepinsaresetupasA/Dinputs.Note
thatitisnotnecessarytofirstsetuptheA/Dpinasaninputintheportcontrolregistertoenablethe
A/Dinputaswhenthepin-sharedfunctioncontrolbitsenableanA/Dinput,thestatusoftheport
controlregisterwillbeoverridden.
Therearefourinternalanalogsignalsderivedfromthehighperformancebandgapreferencevoltage
VBGREF,theSDoperationalamplifier0outputsignalOPA0OandtheSDoperationalamplifier1
outputsignalOPA1O,whichcanbeconnectedtotheA/Dconverterastheanaloginputsignalby
configuringtheSAINS2~SAINS0bits.Iftheexternalchannelinputisselectedtobeconverted,
theSAINS2~SAINS0bitsshouldbesetto"000"or"101~111"andtheSACS3~SACS0bits
candeterminewhichexternalchannelisselected.Iftheinternalanalogsignalisselectedtobe
converted,theSACS3~SACS0bitsmustbeconfiguredwithanappropriatevaluetoswitchoffthe
externalanalogchannelinput.Otherwise,theinternalanalogsignalwillbeconnectedtogetherwith
theexternalchannelinput.Thiswillresultinunpredictablesituations.
ThisVBGREFishighperformancebandgapvoltagereferencewithdrivercapability.Ithasaccurate
voltagereferenceoutputwheninputsupplyvoltageVDDchangesortemperaturevaries.And,this
bandgapwillstartupatlowvoltagesupplyvoltage.Therefore,thisvoltagereferencehashighpower
supplyrejectionratio(PSRR)forlowdropoutregulator(LDO)ispresented.
