140 / 142 page  Application family identifier (AFI) (informative) M24LR04E-R 140/142 Doc ID 022208 Rev 5 Appendix C Application family identifier (AFI) (informative) The AFI (application family identifier) represents the type of application targeted by the VCD and is used to extract from all the M24LR04E-Rs present only the M24LR04E-R meeting the required application criteria. It is programmed by the M24LR04E-R issuer (the purchaser of the M24LR04E-R). Once locked, it cannot be modified. The most significant nibble of the AFI is used to code one specific or all application families, as defined in Table 131. The least significant nibble of the AFI is used to code one specific or all application subfamilies. Subfamily codes different from 0 are proprietary. Table 131. AFI coding(1) 1.
