58 / 157 page  Application information ST25R3916/7 58/157 DS12484 Rev 4 I2C: master reads slave immediately after the first byte If the I2C master omits the mode byte and reads the ST25R3916/7 immediately after the slave address, then, as shown in Figure 27, it will first output the byte FFh, followed by a register dump starting at addres 01h. This mode is incorporated for an easier the detection of I2C devices, but is not intended to be used in normal operation. Figure 27.
