ST52x301 can work by using a 5, 10 or 20 MHz

clock.

The ST52x301 Clock Generator module generates

the internal clock for the internal Control Unit, ALU,

Fuzzy Core and on-chip peripherals and it is

designed to require a minimum of exte rnal

components.

The system clock may be generatedby using either

a qua r tz cr ystal , or a cera mic res onat or

(CERALOC); or, at least, by means of an external

clock.

The different clock generator options connection

methods are shown in Figure 5.1.

When an external clock is used, it must be

connectedon the pin OSCin while OSCout must be

grounded.

The crystal oscillator start-up time is a function of

manyvariables:crystal parameters(especially RS),

oscillator load capacitance (CL), IC parameters,

ambient temperature, supply voltage.

It must be observed that the crystal or ceramic

leads and circuit connections must be as short as

possible. Typical values for CL1, CL2 are 10pF for

a 20 MHz crystal.
